Italian Pasta Bake

Serves 4
225g Penne pasta
Salt and pepper
275g ham cut into strips  (or diced bacon pieces)
Butter for greasing
3 eggs
450ml single cream
150g Gruyere cheese, grated
50g Parmesan cheese, grated.
1 Tomato, sliced.

 

 

 

  • Pre heat the oven to 190`c.
  • Put the pasta in a pan of boiling salted water and cook for 8-10 minutes until just tender.  Drain well.
  • Stir ham into the pasta and put into a greased ovenproof dish.
  • Beat together the eggs, cream, seasoning and add half of the Gruyere cheese.
  • Pour the mixture over the pasta.
  • Sprinkle the remaining Gruyere and the parmesan cheese over the top and dress with tomato, bake for 40 mins, until golden brown.
