Stuffed Cabbage Leaves

Serves 4
12 Cabbage leaves washed
1 1/2 lb minced lamb, beef or quorn for vegetarians
1/2 cup rice washed & drained
1 egg beaten
Jar of passata
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Salt & pepper

 

 

  • Pre heat the oven too 200`c
  • Place the cabbage leaves in a saucepan of boiling water, turn off the heat & soak for 5 minutes, then drain & cool.
  • In a bowl, combine the mince, rice, egg, cinnamon and a sprinkle of salt and pepper
  • Place 2 tablespoons of the mince mixture onto each cabbage leaf & roll tightly
  • Spray an ovenproof dish with oil
  • Layer the cabbage rolls in the dish then pour the passata over them
  • Cover the dish, & cook for 40-45 minutes

 

Stuffed cabbage Leaves are simple to prepare and can be served alone or with a side salad and crusty bread.
